"Time to say Good Bye" mail

when a professional leaves his present organisation for next company, he drafts a thanking mail with lots of manufactured (may be real) emotional and nostalgic feelings he had experienced while working in various projects with various teams and he sends to all members of his present as well as past projects. what does this courtesy mail leave an impact on employees who get this mail? do we get emotional as this guy is leaving us ? does HR team see an infectious virus being sent by a out-going employee in the form of a thanking mail ? ok. let me tell you...how an employee reacts after reading a 'Good Bye' mail as this mail directly motivates them also to say 'Good Bye'...if that out-going employee is his friend then he will inquire about the offer he got and he will request him to refer his resume when he joins there...otherwise he will also start looking for a better opportunity in term of salary because someone having same experience as his own are getting better package in the market then why he should be left doing work at lower salary in his present company. many times this mail left many employees in bad taste as well as demotivated as they missed to grab that more-paying job. so what happens...one 'Good Bye' mail motivates next three or five 'Good Bye' mails directly or indirectly. from organisational perspective, this practice is no way doing any good.

sorry, but i differ.
1.its a manner, like we say bye to our friends. its a way to bid adieu to little known n unknown persons in the organization. friends already know n celebrated with farewell.
2.very few of them get motivated by such mails.but lots of get frustrated.n 99.99% delete such mails ..n rest 0.01% keep this mail as template for their turn.me too hv some template.
3.its not bad thing for organization.if u can welcome someone in the organization so the departure too.in 41.23% cases at least team member or collegues give farewell in office.
4.most of the person are feeling happy n some sort vengeance in sending good bye mails.these kind of persons keep managers n HR in first address line.
5.you are a good writer.

ritesh, well this time i wont agree you.
Good bye mail has diffrent purpose.
It is one way to say officially that u r finally leaving the compnay and also share ur experince with others. so there is no need to feel jealous about it.

you hvae completley taken this issue in a wrong way

@ nisha and @ goyal

my current project team receives two good bye mails every friday from last two months. the content of mail is same copy-paste and it is being sent sincerely to all members. the frequency of attrition has caused pain in ass of managers and team leads who believe that this coutesy of sending mail will trigger catastrophic increase in attrition. So, I think...any firm who experiences high level of attrition...those companies atleast should be careful abt this standard practice of saying good bye.

i think there are very few companies who even deserve a fucking sympathy so mostly i guess people are really happy to get 30-40% hike that there stupid current venture would never ever even dream of giving them.

As it is very few managers have impressive enough disposition to get the members of team remember for the kind of work they did as a team.

So saying good buy is also a form of official phenomenon now and emotions are null and void to be realistic rather than an emotional foolishness.
